Tasting Note
Intense pear and peach with delicate floral notes. Smooth and rounded on the palate, with refreshing length.
Drink it with: spicy Korean-style BBQ pork, or creamy mushrooms.
The Winemaking
Parcels are made separately and blended: some fermented as whole berries (carbonic maceration), some with deliberately oxidised juice, and 10% aged for five months in older French barrels. Cool fermentation and extended lees contact add texture.
The Vineyards
From the Pilgrim vineyard in the heart of the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury.
The Producer
Dayne and Jill Sherwood planted their first 8 hectares in North Canterbury in 1987. Today Sherwood Estate is one of New Zealand's largest family-owned independent wineries, with chief winemaker Petter Evans at the helm.
