Tasting Note
A vibrant, slightly hazy orange wine. Citrus, grapefruit, crisp apple and white-fleshed fruit on the nose, then Mediterranean herbs and lively acidity on the palate. Serve lightly chilled, around 14°C.
Drink it with: Sicilian pasta, a rich ragù, or pane e panelle (chickpea fritters).
The Winemaking
90% of the juice ferments off the skins in steel, while 10% ferments on its skins for 12 days, all with indigenous yeasts. Blended back together and bottled unfiltered, unfined, unstabilised and with no added sulphur.
The Vineyards
Catarratto from the sandy hills of Alcamo, where altitude and big day–night temperature swings slow ripening. Farmed organically and hand-picked in the early morning.
The Producer
Rallo was founded in Marsala in 1860 and made its name with Marsala and Passito. The Vesco family took over in 1996, adding their Alcamo vineyards, and have farmed organically since 2010. Vicoletto is winemaker Andrea Vesco's newest project.
