Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy, Sancerre Blanc Terre de Maimbray

£30.00

Tasting Note

Proper grower Sancerre, full of character. Intense white flowers and citrus on the nose, a lively, mouth-watering attack and a long finish with a little spicy twist. Classic, precise and the kind of Sancerre that reminds you why it became so famous.

Drink it with: the classic local match, Crottin de Chavignol goat's cheese, or a plate of oysters.

The Winemaking

Each parcel is vinified separately, then the wine matures for a few months in stainless steel and is bottled with little or no filtration. No oak, just pure Sauvignon Blanc.

The Vineyards

Mostly in the hamlet of Maimbray, on the clay and chalk 'Terres Blanches' (Kimmeridgian marl) soils. Everything is hand-picked, the soils are ploughed, only organic fertilisers are used, and grass is grown between the rows to keep the vines in check.

The Producer

Pascal Reverdy founded the estate in 1985 and was joined by his brother Nicolas in 1993. After Nicolas's death in a vineyard accident in 2007, his widow Sophie continued alongside Pascal and his wife Nathalie, keeping this a true family domaine.
