Mont Rocher, Carignan Vielles Vignes

£13.50

Tasting Note

Old-vine Carignan, an old-fashioned grape given a thoroughly modern makeover. Juicy and mouth-watering, with black cherry on the nose and pure, vibrant red berry fruit on a rich, smooth palate. A gentle hint of vanilla on the finish. Fantastic value for this much character.

Drink it with: a hearty casserole or the Sunday roast beef.

The Winemaking

Destemmed, crushed and fermented at around 23°C, then aged in tank with a little French oak (about a third of the wine, for three months, using staves) for added roundness and complexity.

The Vineyards

50-year-old, low-yielding vines on rugged limestone in the sun-drenched foothills of the Pyrenees, chosen for pure fruit and a real taste of place.

The Producer

Terres Fidèles makes small-batch wines from old vines across south-west France, working with growers who respect their land. Founder Fergal Tynan MW describes the project as exploring and rediscovering remarkable vineyard sites.
