Tasting Note
Characterful red Burgundy that doesn't need years in the cellar or a second mortgage. Ripe red and black berries, a little sweet spice and fine, gentle tannins. Approachable and easy to love, but with enough Pinot Noir character to keep Burgundy lovers interested.
Drink it with: salmon or other oily fish, roast chicken or a simple pasta.
The Winemaking
A traditional red Burgundy fermentation, then nine months in 228-litre barrels, 15% of them new.
The Vineyards
The Hautes Côtes de Beaune, the higher and cooler hills tucked behind the Côte de Beaune's famous villages, giving fresher, more delicate Pinot Noir.
The Producer
Maison Chanzy has top sites across the Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Winemaker Max Blondelle lets each site speak for itself, and Chanzy is one of very few Burgundy houses certified HVE level 3, France's highest environmental standard.
