Tasting Note
Deep ruby with a spicy nose of cherry, black cherry and plum compote. Fine and velvety on the palate, with soft tannins and plenty of length. A touch of Amarone richness at an everyday price.
Drink it with: pasta with meat sauces, roast or grilled meats, and fresh or aged cheeses.
The Winemaking
Hand-picked, loose bunches are dried in ventilated lofts (appassimento) before a gentle pressing. Aged partly in steel and partly in tonneaux, with 40% of the wine seeing six months in oak.
The Vineyards
Varied soils, from silty brown and red earth to red soil over basalt and Eocene limestone, all high in calcium and full of stones. That variety adds complexity.
The Producer
The Biscardo family have made wine around Verona for over 150 years, bottling under their own name since 1900. Brothers Maurizio and Martino now run things, and their wines are known for drinkability, aromatic purity and value.
