Tasting Note
A vibrant, fresh white with ripe fruit at its core. Citrus, pear, peach and ripe tropical fruit carry right through to the finish.
Drink it with: pork, chicken salads, Thai green curry or spicy vegetarian dishes.
The Winemaking
The grapes are vinified separately. Most of the Chenin ferments naturally in steel, with about 10% aged in old 300-litre French barrels; the Viognier ferments in concrete. Blended just before bottling.
The Vineyards
Sandstone soils and a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers, cool nights and mild, wet winters, so the grapes ripen slowly and keep their freshness.
The Producer
Lo & Behold is a South African label built around Piekenierskloof, a high, cool plateau of old vines on sandstone above the Citrusdal Valley. Each variety is made separately, then blended for fresh, characterful wines.
