ILatium Morini, Amarone della Valpolicella Léon DOCG

£55.00

Tasting Note

Garnet with an orange rim. Intense ripe black fruit and sour cherry, with herbal and earthy notes. Rich, raisined and pruney on the palate, yet beautifully balanced.

Drink it with: roast or grilled red meat, game, or ripe cheeses.

The Winemaking

The grapes are air-dried in small baskets for 100–120 days, then crio-macerated and fermented for 20–30 days. Aged 30 months in new French and American oak, then 8–10 months in bottle.

The Vineyards

Hand-harvested at peak ripeness from the family's 40 hectares of plots across Valpolicella and Soave.

The Producer

ILatium Morini is a family affair: seven brothers and cousins who, in 2004, stopped selling their best grapes and started bottling their own. They're part of a new wave in Valpolicella and Soave, pairing concentrated fruit with real freshness.
