Tasting Note
A brilliant first orange wine, and a fun one for those who already love them. Ginger, white pepper and flowers on the nose, with hints of green tea and mandarin. Razor-sharp acidity, a gentle grip from the skins and plenty of generous fruit. Aromatic, textured and properly moreish.
Drink it with: roasted vegetables, Comté or Gruyère, or a simple risotto bianco.
The Winemaking
A blend of Riesling (45%), Grüner Veltliner (35%), Gewürztraminer (19%) and a dash of Muscat. The grapes are left on their skins after pressing to pull out colour and flavour, then fermented in stainless steel. Half the wine spends six months in older French oak, and it rests eight weeks on its lees.
The Vineyards
Hand- and machine-harvested early in the morning from vines over 15 years old in the Weinviertel. Loess, clay and granite soils, south-facing terraces, a cool continental climate and certified sustainable farming.

Funkstille is a range made with a 16th-generation family producer in Niederösterreich, with an energy-neutral winery and a modern take on Austria's classic grapes and styles.
