Tasting Note
A skin-contact white that makes a perfect introduction to orange wine. Citrus and lychee, with mature floral notes and fine, sweet spice. Lively and fresh with well-balanced acidity. Serve it chilled and it's all citrus peel; as it warms up, the florals and spice come through.
Drink it with: aged cheeses, honey-and-spice roasted root vegetables, seafood or Mediterranean dishes.
The Winemaking
70% Muscat and 30% Grenache Gris, picked in late August, destemmed and co-fermented on their skins for 20 days with daily pump-overs, then pressed off to finish fermenting. No oak.
The Vineyards
The northern side of the Agly Valley near Maury, on black schist that holds the heat and drains well. Low rainfall keeps yields small and the fruit concentrated and fresh.
The Producer
Felicette is part of Terres Fidèles, a small-batch, old-vine project across south-west France led by Fergal Tynan MW, working with growers who respect their land.
