Mas Olivier, Faugères Blanc

£15.00

Tasting Note

A Languedoc white with real Mediterranean charm. Ripe melon, orange blossom and bright citrus on the nose, then a balanced, harmonious palate with a lovely texture and a refreshing lick of acidity on the finish. Delicious on its own, even better with food.

Drink it with: roast chicken, grilled fish, or roasted Mediterranean vegetables.

The Winemaking

A blend led by Rolle (Vermentino) and Roussanne, with Marsanne, Grenache Blanc and a touch of Viognier. Fermented in concrete, then three months on its lees with stirring for extra texture. No oak.

The Vineyards

South-facing vineyards at around 300 metres in the foothills of the Cévennes, on pure schist. Long summer sunshine and cool nights give freshness alongside ripeness, and the vines are farmed sustainably, organically where possible.

The Producer

Mas Olivier comes from the Faugères growers' co-operative, founded in 1959, which now makes over half of the appellation's bottled wine. Their aim: generous, ripe, characterful wines that offer great value.
