Domaine de Colette, Fleurie

£25.00

Tasting Note

Fleurie is the prettiest of the Beaujolais crus, and old vines give this one real depth. Lively and vibrant, with red berry fruit, soft tannins and a little spice on the finish. Light-bodied and fresh, but with the concentration you only get from properly old Gamay.

Drink it with: roast veal, sesame-soy chicken, game birds, or red mullet.

The Winemaking

Grapes are picked by hand and checked on the sorting table, then fermented as whole bunches on their skins for 8–9 days. After a gentle pneumatic pressing the wine matures in vat for six months. No oak.

The Vineyards

Granite soils with goblet-pruned vines averaging around 50 years old. Farmed organically with organic manure only, grassed rows and shallow ploughing.

The Producer

Domaine de Colette sits in Lantignié, among the Beaujolais crus. Founded by René Gauthier and now run by his son Jacky with grandson Pierre-Alexandre, the estate has gone fully organic. Their oldest plot, the one that gives the domaine its name, is more than 80 years old.

  • Vintage: 2025
  • ABV: 13%
  • Size: 75cl
  • Region: Fleurie, Beaujolais
