Tasting Note
Classic pale Provence rosé from a beautiful organic estate. Delicate floral aromas, a clean, crisp entry and a mineral palate with gentle strawberry notes. This is the estate's oldest and most traditional wine, made to be enjoyed young, ideally somewhere sunny.
Drink it with: as an aperitif, or with anything from the south of France: salade niçoise, grilled fish, tapenade.
The Winemaking
50% Grenache with Syrah and Cinsault (25% each). Picked in the cool of early morning to keep the colour pale, fully destemmed and given only a brief skin contact before pressing. Fermented in temperature-controlled steel, with no malolactic so it stays fresh. No oak.
The Vineyards
Shallow clay-limestone and sandy soils at around 250 metres in the Coteaux Varois, part of 100 hectares of certified organic vines set within 1,000 hectares of woodland. HVE level 3 certified.
The Producer
Château L'Escarelle is a well-regarded Provence estate on the slopes of the Montagne de La Loube, with vines climbing to 500 metres. The whole estate is farmed organically.
