Cave De Ribeauville, Pinot Blanc

£24.00

Tasting Note

Pinot Blanc is Alsace's great all-rounder, and this organic one is a delight. Floral on the nose, then rich, ripe and fruity on the palate, with a little waxy texture to keep it interesting. Medium-bodied, fresh, and it finishes dry with a gentle nuttiness.

Drink it with: chicken, fish and seafood, or a summery spread of salads and cold dishes.

The Winemaking

Only healthy, intact grapes are accepted. The juice is settled naturally, fermented slowly at controlled temperatures, then aged for six months on its lees. No malolactic and no oak, which keeps it fresh and pure.

The Vineyards

Organic vineyards in the Vosges foothills, picked by hand parcel by parcel. Herbal teas of nettle, comfrey and willow replace most copper sprays, and hedgerows and wildflowers keep the ecosystem healthy. It's around 30% more work than conventional farming, and worth it.

The Producer

Cave de Ribeauvillé is France's oldest wine co-operative, owned by its growers for more than a century. Winemaker Evelyne Dodelinger leads this organic range, all about fresh, fruit-led classic Alsace varieties.
