Adega Ponte da Boga, Mencía

£26.00

Tasting Note

Fruit-driven Mencía, deep cherry red. Violets, rose and blackberry on the nose with peppery spice and an earthy background; sour cherry, violet and blackberry on the palate.

Drink it with: beef, meaty fish, or Galician-style octopus.

The Winemaking

Destemmed and crushed, then a 10-day fermentation with gentle pump-overs and eight more days on the skins. Six months in stainless steel. No oak.

The Vineyards

Hand-worked terraces, some with vines over 100 years old, farmed with natural pest control such as encouraging predators. The terraces are so small and steep that harvesting is entirely by hand.

The Producer

Adega Ponte da Boga sits above the Sil river in Galicia's Ribeira Sacra, on steep, ancient terraces where every grape is picked by hand. Some of their vines are more than 100 years old, and alongside Godello and Mencía they work with rarities such as Merenzao and Blanco Lexítimo.

The Details

  • Vintage: 2025
  • ABV: 13.5%
  • Size: 75cl
  • Region: Ribeira Sacra, Galicia
  • Country: Spain
  • Grapes: Mencía
