Anyone ever heard of the Judgement of Paris? (the wine one, not the Greek Mythology one)

If you have you are probably well aware of how it shook the wine world and turned everything upside down. For the ones who aren’t familiar, the judgement of Paris was a blind tasting in 1976 that pitched the (then) underdog Californian wines against some of the worlds most highly regarded French wines. The tasting was essentially set to cement the reputation of French wines in stone. But what happened shocked the wine world and changed the playing field forever. To keep a long story short, Californian wines were rated better than the French. Maybe not surprising today however, lets say the French weren’t very pleased.. so much so, one of the judges Odette Khan (editor at La Revue de vin) demanded her ballot back and criticised the tasting…so yeah.. there was drama…

Anywho, we thought it would be fun to recreate this event! There will be a blind tasting happening on Thursday the 10th October at Good Brothers Wine Cellars on Northumberland street.

The best of Napa vs the best of Burgundy and Bordeaux.

Only 10 tickets available

£75 per ticket (including cheese and Charcuterie)

6 amazing wines and a few extras thrown in…..
